I personally don't understand it as a principle because I, who have plenty of means, should probably not have gotten a government bonus which went straight into my investment account. I do think it should be possible though to have an overall more efficient system where taxes are done for you automatically, capital gains are taxed more to prevent generational wealth transfer, and benefits are universally distributed without needing to worry about means-testing. But that's socialism.
